Infractions are tickets issued by law enforcement agencies for non-criminal offenses. Jail time cannot be imposed for infractions.
The information contained here is intended to address frequently asked questions. For more detailed information, please consult applicable laws and court rules. The District Court clerks may assist the parties with procedure but are not allowed to give legal advice. Those in need of legal advice should consult an attorney.
You have four options if you receive an infraction citation, which are described in detail below. These options also apply to non-Discover Pass Parking tickets.

You MUST respond within 30 days or your citation may be found committed and referred to a collection agency. Traffic Infractions will have an additional $52.00 penalty added and be reported to DOL. Upon received notice of your failure to respond, DOL has the right to begin the process of suspending your license.
How to Respond to an Infraction Citation:
After receiving an Infraction, carefully read the options on the ticket. Responses must be submitted no later than midnight on the day the response is due.
Select one of the boxes on the ticket and be sure to verify your mailing address. If you have additional questions, feel free to contact the District Court office.
Please refer to the citation number at the top of the citation when contacting our office.

- Request time pay
If you need time to pay, please mark the payment option on your citation, verify your mailing address, and write in 'Time Pay' next to the marked option. We will send you a Time Pay Agreement, which must be signed and submitted to the Court. Failure to pay as agreed may result in your account being referred to a collection agency.

Option 3: Mitigation
- Mitigation Hearing
An opportunity to explain your situation in Court and request a lowered fine amount. Mark the Mitigation box on your citation, verify your mailing address, and submit it to the Court. We will send you a Notice of Hearing with your Court date.
- Written Mitigation
An opportunity to explain your situation and request a lowered fine without appearing for a hearing. Mark the Mitigation box on the citation, verify your mailing address, and submit it to the Court. Once you receive your Notice of Hearing with your Court date, complete the Defendant's Request for Decision on Written Statements and return it, along with any other evidence, to the Court at least fourteen (14) days prior to your hearing. We will cancel your hearing, and you will receive a mailed response once the Judge has reached a decision. - Form: Infraction Witten Statement Form
Option 4: Contested
- Contested Hearing
An opportunity to deny the violation in Court and request a dismissal. Mark the Contested box on your citation, verify your mailing address, and submit it to the Court. We will send you a Notice of Hearing with your Court date.
For information regarding subpoenas and witnesses for your Contested hearing, contact the Prosecutor's Office.
- Written Contested
An opportunity to deny the violation without appearing for a hearing. Mark the Contested box on your citation, verify your mailing address, and submit it to the Court. Once you receive your Notice of Hearing with your Court date, complete the Defendant's Request for Decision on Written Statements and return it, along with any other evidence, to the Court at least fourteen (14) days prior to your hearing. We will cancel your hearing, and you will receive a mailed response once the Judge has reached a decision. - Form: Infraction Witten Statement Form
