The Skamania County Hearing Examiner conducts quasi-judicial proceedings and issues decisions and recommendations on land use applications and administrative appeals in Skamania County. Decisions by the Hearing Examiner are subject to appeal to the Superior Court, based on the record established before the Hearing Examiner. (Within the National Scenic Area, appeal decisions can be appealed to the Gorge Commission. Shoreline decisions can be appealed to the Shoreline Hearings Board). The Hearing Examiner is a land-use attorney with an extensive background in land-use law and policy and is appointed by the Board of County Commissioners.
The information contained herein is intended to provide a brief description of the Skamania County Hearing Examiner process and is designed to assist those who participate in the land use decision making-processes. The Hearing Examiner process is described in more detail in SCC Chapter 2.80.
Meeting Calendar
Hearings before the Skamania County Hearing Examiner typically occur once per month. Hearing agendas and other information are generally posted on this page ten days prior to the hearing. Hearings will occur only as necessary.
All hearings are held virtually and open to the public for remote participation.
