Normally when you purchase a vehicle from an out-of-state dealer, the dealer will mail the required title paperwork to our office (if you are a Skamania County Resident). Once we receive the paperwork, you will need to visit our office in person to sign the title application, pay for the taxes/license, and pick up your plates. If you paid out-of-state sales taxes on your purchase, you will receive equal credit toward the Washington sales/use taxes that are due (Note - Oregon does not have a sales tax. If an Oregon dealership collected WA taxes for you, they will send a check for that amount either directly to you to bring to our office, or to us with your title paperwork so that your WA taxes can be paid when you visit the office).

Please understand that different dealerships and states have different policies/rules, so the way your licensing is handled could vary significantly from the information above. If you have any questions, ask your dealer how they will be handling the licensing of your vehicle or contact us at (509) 427-3730.
