The Solid Waste Division is responsible for collecting solid waste from the public and oversees that all materials collected are properly disposed of.

The County has three collection sites that are located in Washougal, Stevenson and Underwood. All of these sites provide full service to include the collection of recyclable materials.

Business Small Quantity Generator and FREE Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event

Skamania County Public Works is sponsoring a Small Quantity Generator Hazardous Waste collection event (pre-scheduled) and a FREE Household Hazardous Waste collection event for residents. The collection event will be held at the Stevenson Transfer Station in Stevenson on Saturday MAY 18th, 2024.

  • The FREE Household Hazardous Waste collection event will operate from 10:00am to 2:00pm sharp (No containers over 5 gallons)
  • The Business Small Quantity Generator collection event will operate Saturday from 8:00 am to 9:00 am and is by appointment only. For further information, appointment time or disposal pricing, please call Clean Harbors Environmental Services at (503) 742-7105.

At these Small Quantity Generator and Household Hazardous Waste collection events, county businesses and residents will be able to drop off all hazardous waste, with restrictions. The wastes that are NOT accepted are: NO CONTAINER OVER 5 GALLONS, ASBESTOS, explosive, Radioactive, or biological.

Examples of Household Hazardous Wastes that WILL be accepted include:

Paints, Solvents, Gasoline, Flammable Liquids, Poisons, Corrosives, Herbicides, Insecticides, Pool Chemicals, Aerosols, household cleaners, Batteries, Antifreeze and Oil. Nothing over 5 gallons.
