Advisories:

Livestock:  Advisory will be working on recognition for kids breeding animals at home.  Quality show will be early spring, date to be announced. Planned changes for fair this year will have livestock posters being judged in the livestock barn and asking for 4 hour parent volunteer commitments during fair instead of a livestock workday.

Horse:  Kay Day will be the horse barn superintendent this year; Ben Sizemore and Sherril Allen have volunteered to assist.

Teen:  KYG (know your government) member Annalicia Wright reported the theme this year is “Politics”.  She also described what a wonderful learning experience this program has been.  Skamania is near the top in State attendance in regards to the county size. They are going to be sending 14 delegates and 3 chaperones to Olympia at a cost of $249.00 each for a total of $4,233.00.  They have gathered $3,567 and are still short.  The Council voted and approved $500.00 to be given to KYG.

Office Report:  Ole stated that the plans to find a 20 hour/week program assistant goes on, hopefully they will have someone on board by next month.  Re-enrollments have been slow in coming in.  We are fast approaching the date deadline; all forms need to be in the office to Ole by Feb. 22nd at the latest.  Finally Ole wanted say thank you and how much he appreciates everyone who have sent flowers and cards after lost of his wife Katie.

Old Business: State decorations, livestock advisory report that they have met and decided they are not in need of extra decorations.  Horse advisory will take the item back under their meetings and will re-present after planning and costs are finalized.  Horizons has a new “how to” blog being set up by local artist.

New Business:  Cyndi Gonser raised a question about barn meetings and kids who have another exhibit that may over lap.  Kay stated as far as the horse barn, kids can be excused if they let the superintendents know.  D’Anna Miller is looking for options in trying to get 4H certifiers in shooting sports.   She has a lot of people who are interested in becoming certified leaders.  The instructors she has been in contact with live in other parts of the state, discussion was around what it would take to get one to make the trip to our area.

Fair Board Report:  Larry Sampson announced that the arena will not be available on Sunday during fair.  The board will be hosting a lawn mower race; the horse advisory will be looking at different options in place of the arena for groom squad.  The board is looking for a great motto for fair this year.  The fair is 100 years old; look for information about a naming contest.

Meeting adjourned at 8:05

Respectfully submitted
